The Fassbind family started in the gastronomy in 1421 with the “Zum Weissen Wind” in Arth (SZ). 1718 the family buys the “Taverne Allhier zum Bären” also in Arth. The first hotel is bought in 1819 by Dominik Fassbind in Brunnen (Hotel Rössli, and later 1870 Opening of the Waldstätterhofs). It is in 1882 that the family creates the first hotel chain with the take over of the two Schindler Hotels Sonne and Krone on Rigi-Klösterli.
Later the Fassbind were present in hotels in Lucerne, on the Rigi, at Vitznau, Brunnen, Engelberg and later in Lugano)
In the 1960’s, Doris and Georges Fassbind settled down in Lausanne and created Fassbind Hotel.

Since 1993, Eric and Marc Fassbind have joined the family group. They are the 6th generation of hoteliers.
2011 The group has been split into two entities.
